Different, but better

Housemate and I are having a massive clear out of all rooms in a suspected upcoming landlord inspection (slobs - I know, I know :) ). A few things that are different this time around:

- I don’t keep taking breaks - not sure if this is fitness or overall happiness levels, but it’s a definate improvement.
- I keep trying on all the clothes I find
- 90% of my wardrobe is black. This is terrible! Probably due to a funny* washing machine incident where my washing basket broke a few months ago so I brought it down in a black bin bag - housemate then threw this out in the rubbish. Bye bye nice clothes! I haven’t had the inclination to replace since I’ve been losing weight. Want to burn through a few sizes first.

The best change I didn’t realise - I was whining that I didn’t have a mirror in my room (housemate has built in wardrobe with full-length mirrors). Now we’ve been here a year and a half, and my housemate kindly pointed out that he had the room with the mirrors because i flat out refused to have them. Gave me a little kick about my state of mind now (and then).

I wouldn’t say the mirror and I are BFF yet… but who knows, vanity may be in my future.

Anyone else letting the mirror back into their life?

When in Rome…

At least, that’s the theory. Join BuddySlim, do what the locals do.

Beginning post in all its glory…

I put my target up as ‘have a waist’. I don’t remember having one - I remember being 10 and my mum fussing that none of the skirts in Marks n Sparks would fit me. So this change ( at 27 years old!) is huge to me.

I find as I start losing the weight (24lb so far), I am much more open with people. I did like to be sneaky with food (like noone noticed!) or social life (lack thereof). Now I am talking to people about the gym, my hair (finally got a proper haircut, have had the same one since birth), clothes… without feeling like I have something to hide. Brilliant!

Life (present)

I rent with a friend I could refer to as dream boy - he doesn’t feel the same way about my bubblebutt so I am subjected to daily torture as we live and work together (get me out of here!!). I work for a large company as a graphic designer (fingers crossed, hold on to the desks, let the recession be over soon - marketing gets badly hit!)

I also rock the gym (predictable joke here) 3-4 times a week, can’t wait to lose a bit of weight and get off the cross trainer and into the running.

So anyway, I’m loving the site concept and will stick around while I lose the bubblebutt. If you feel like having a chat send me a message.
